Community and the Environment

We believe that health extends beyond the confines of our bodies, that a healthy community breeds healthy people, and that we can only be as healthy as our environment.

Community Support

  • We run the first and only free naturopathic clinic for people with low income in Victoria. Developed by Dr. Amy Gilchrist ND in partnership with YSPN, Acacia Integrative Health Clinic, and BINM (click on The Family Medicine Clinic tab to the left for more information).

  • Graham Robertson RMT cycled 3600 Kms for The Cycle of Life Tour 2011 - and raised over 13,000 dollars for Victoria Hospice - a renowned, and local Victorian organization that supports people with terminal illnesses and their families and friends.  Graham also donates all the proceeds of his one-sunday-a-month "Massage for a Cause" to local charities and development agencies.

  • Community talks and events – throughout the year we present health related public lectures and workshops at various locations around Victoria.  Most of these are free-of-charge and provide useful, practical information to attendees.

Our Environmentally Responsible Clinic

  • We reduce, reuse, and recycle, and do our best to do so in that order.

  • Our cotton sheets are 30% smaller in order to reduce the detergent and water used for laundry.

  • Our letterhead and business cards are printed on 100% recycled paper.  Paper used for progress notes is always 100% recycled bond.

  • We are located at Dockside Green, the world's greenest urban community.  Synergy, our building, has been awarded LEED Platinum status, the highest honour awarded for sustainable buidling practices.

  • Our clinic uses LED lights in all treatment rooms (which use 2% of the energy of conventional incandescents) and low energy fluorescents throughout the rest of the clinic.

  • Our showerhead is low flow, and our toilet is a dual-flush, low volume design to reduce water consumption.  Better yet, all water used by the toilet is recycled grey water!

  • Our vent-less, condensing dryer uses a fraction of the energy of traditional dryers, and our washer is one of the most efficient models on the market.

  • We painted our clinic in no-VOC or low-VOC paint throughout.

  • Our doors are Douglas fir -- a local renewable resource.

  • Our floors are polished concrete which reduces our heating a cooling costs, and limits the carbon footprint of our flooring.  Polished concrete is hygenic, durable, and beautiful.  Come see for yourself.
